The Paisley Raye Lotus Dress was launched by Paisley Raye in the same time frame as when I started with the company in Feb/March. I will tell it to you straight. I did not even want to try this new style. It encompassed all my personal fashion dislikes for my body: high neckline, frilly sleeves, no defined waist. That was a big fat NOPE from me! Let’s fast forward 8 weeks, shall we?
Paisley Raye had seen an influx of sales the last few months and the warehouse was getting pretty low. New runs of most styles were set to arrive soon but I needed/wanted to place a new order now. I decided I was going to give the Lotus dress a shot. I ordered a few in each size and a little extra in my own size… you know…stylist perks 😉
When my box arrived I was really pleased with the color and print selection that I received. These were fun, gorgeous and on trend!
The material: super soft, light weight brushed ITY/DTY type fabric (think of a more luxurious LLR leggings material). Super stretchy but still holds its shape. The Paisley Raye Lotus dress sports a mock neck (it’s somewhere between a turtleneck and a crew-neck), a flattering A-line shape, trumpet (or bell) sleeves, and pockets! I am finding I really prefer clothing with legit deep pockets these days as my toddler hands me EVERYTHING to “hold” and I am definitely not allowed to set whatever it is down.
So, the mock neck, I will be honest, I had no fucking clue this was a thing. I am someone who HATES high necklines, I don’t like things that choke me…er or rather I don’t like clothes that feel like they choke me ;). The Lotus surprisingly didn’t give that feel! It’s like fucking magic! The neckline had space and it actually sat away from my neck not actually touching it! Kinda cool man!
Sleeves. Those frilly bell/trumpet sleeves. My experience with flowy sleeves in the past always results in spilled wine glasses and more food on my clothes than in my mouth. The Paisley Raye Lotus sleeves are done at just the right length that they wont do this! My hands can work free and clear of the extra fabric with out any worry of clothing contamination. It has been tested, you can wipe your ass without fear as well. 😉 Just looking out for you, boo!
That “undefined waist” I was so judgmental on? Yeah, ummm Paisley Raye doesn’t make sacks. It still had great shape! I prefer to really show off my waistline with a belt but for anyone worried about too tight in the midsection but still wanting a feminine shape, this dress has that! My personal preference would be to corset everything, for someone who doesn’t like tight stuff around my neck I sure do like to be snug and held in on my midsection!
I actually do like this style a lot. I feel Paisley Raye would have had better luck releasing the Lotus dress in the Fall versus the Spring but if it’s too hot to be comfortable in this dress then you are likely to be uncomfortable in any clothing. I really like the boho or hippy vibe this dress gives while still being very unique. I would assume that wearing this style to any event or gathering there wouldn’t be another dress there like it and you will get noticed for sure! This dress retails for $53 and I feel that is a steal for the quality the Paisley Raye Lotus shows and being 100% made in the USA.
Show off those sexy legs ladies!

This dress can be worn sized up or down. I am petite… I like the fit of the Small the best but I also can easily wear Medium (my true to size) and Large!

To any of my nerd friends out there… Paisley Raye needs to make this dress in all white. The cosplay would be oh so fun!
