Why I hate Stitch Fix – My honest review!
Before I dive into my review, do you know what Stitch Fix is?
Stitch Fix is the personal style service for men and women that evolves with your tastes, needs, and lifestyle. It’s a subscription clothing service where you get to try clothes on in the comfort of your home, (no toddler to deal with in the public dressing rooms), and purchase the items you want while sending back the pieces you don’t! (They even provide the fully paid shipping bag to do so in each order.) You get assigned a personal stylist who, if he/she is good/competent, will social media stalk you to get a feel for your personal style. You also fill out an in-depth questionnaire about your body, sizing, and fashion preferences. Keep in mind, some stylists suck and some are fucking AMAZING. If you don’t mesh with yours, do not hesitate to request a different stylist.
So why do I hate Stitch Fix?
Because my boxes are so fantastically put together with gorgeous, good quality clothes, I almost always keep the entire damn box! You do get a 25% discount on the entire purchase when you keep the full box, so even if you are “meh” about one piece, it’s usually cheaper to just keep it all. I have a monster toddler, and it’s impossible to actually go shopping for anything with him in tow, so having my clothes mailed to the house for me to try on after the child is in bed is priceless. So… I hate Stitch Fix because I LOVE Stitch Fix… does that make sense? 😛
My husband also uses Stitch Fix and really loves it. He has his set to business casual, so he has nice things to wear to work. The LAST thing he wants to do is go shopping for clothes. Stitch Fix is perfect for him because he doesn’t have to do anything but open a box. Now he looks put together and professional on the daily… and damn he looks good! I recently started the Kids version of Stitch Fix for my son and his first box was perfection! I wish they made some of his stuff in my size!
So, to brag on my stylist Sabrina, she gets me y’all!!! Like, she must peek in on my social media accounts before every fix because she practically nails it every time! Occasionally the sizing is off (you know how that stuff differs between brands and styles), but it’s easy to just exchange for a different size on checkout! Put the exchanges or clothes you don’t want in a pre-addressed/stamped poly mailer, and off it goes to the post office. Want to try your first box risk free? Let’s take a look at my most current fix. This is what arrived in my box over the weekend…
My box contained these items:
Urban Expressions– Genina Satchel in Mustard $68
Goldray– Esmee Knit Skirt in Dark Grey (Medium) $48
Pistola– Mel Skinny Jean in Indigo (size 6 / 28) $88
Market & Spruce– Rosalva Dolman Twist Keyhole Neck Top in Black (Small) $58
Daniel Rainn– Bellamie Crochet Detail Hi-Low knit Top in Navy (Small) $64
I also added in some “extras”, an underwire T-shirt Bra and a Racerback Bralette, but neither fit so both of those are going back to Stitch Fix. This is a new feature they now offer that doesn’t impact your “box” purchases.
I LOVED everything, and this time they all fit perfectly so no need for exchanges!
My #1 Favorite piece though are the Pistola jeans! Hands down my ass looks fantastic in these bad boys! I love the zipper accents and I am sure they are meant to be cropped length, but on my 5’2 self they are the perfect regular length lol.
My next favorite is the Market & Spruce Twist Keyhole Neck Top. I don’t like high necked things and I don’t think I would have even taken this off the rack at a department store … totally would have missed out!
This twist pencil skirt has my heart!!! <3 <3 I can keep it casual with sneakers and a graphic T or I can dress it up and look sexy AF for a night out! Hmmmm…I need to refresh my band and graphic Tee collection… I wonder where the best place to find those would be? Let me know if you recommend a company/website!
This vegan bag (seriously feels and looks like leather though) is the absolute PERFECT color for fall and its gorgeous, soft and well made! I really think it looks spectacular with the Bellamie Crochet Detail Hi-Low Knit top. Another piece I probably would have walked right past at a department store but since it was in my box I tried it on and it is super cute! The detail in the sleeves really adds that extra touch.
I totally kept everything in this box. My total came to $244.50 with the 25% off discount for keeping everything. I don’t have a stylist charge credit because at the beginning of the year Stitch Fix offered me a style pass for $45 that covered all my Stylist Fees for an entire year! Normally you are charged $25 each time your box is put together for you but if you purchase something, even just one thing and return the rest you get to use your fee towards that purchase! You only lose if you don’t keep anything at all and THAT has NEVER happened to me! lol
