Winter styling hacks and tips for extending your summer wardrobe into the colder months.
**I want to get this out first, hacks that involve elaborate knots, crazy tucks, coins, and extreme layering are NOT my jam…I can’t do that shit…this is real life guys! Busy, crazy, and chaotic life!
I have almost always had small closets so I couldn’t afford the luxury of actually having all of my clothing on display at one time. This means I have to rotate seasonal wardrobes, pack them up in boxes, and tuck them away till the next season. There are always a couple of my favorite pieces though that I just can’t put into that damned box! Thankfully, there are easy hacks that you can do to incorporate that little summer dress into your fall wardrobe without looking like a crazy layering addict. Let me show you some of the ways I have turned that summer piece into a cold weather fashion statement!
Clearly, a lot of my wardrobe consists of quality Paisley Raye styling pieces. When I was with LLR I had to make an effort to wear at least one LLR piece everyday. Thankfully, with the Paisley Raye styles, colors and prints, it’s not nearly as difficult 😉 Also… it’s cold, wet, and nasty here in Virginia Beach, so all of my usual areas to photograph are not working out… so bear with me as I’ve thrown together sub-par graphics, video and visuals to accompany my writing. I have failed you.
Paisley Raye’s Summer Staples
Paisley Raye Lily slip tunic/dress– This cute little number is usually worn as a dress for us shorties or as a tunic top for those who are tall. Slide adjust spaghetti straps, slight shark bite hem, pockets and an undefined waist, allows you to really play with this piece. Throw some leggings on underneath and a layering piece like the Cosmo or Dusty Miller for a quick transformation. Right now though? I am LOVING throwing on a Paisley Raye Sage right over the top. Boom! Now I have long sleeves that still fit under a cute layering kimono or jacket. The hemlines match and flow beautifully and it allows you to tone down prints or show off some color block style. Leggings and boots and hot damn girl you are ready to take on the world!
Paisley Raye Poppy Dress- This dress is a really cute and simple, high-low swing dress that tapers in and highlights our more feminine silhouette. Because this dress doesn’t have pockets, it lays really nicely around the hips. A lot of the summer prints come in a slip-like slinky material, PERFECT for layering a sweater or long sleeve over the top. This gives the look of a cute skirt with a nice sweater, and obviously leggings/tights and booties to finish the winter style!
Paisley Raye Azalea- Cold shoulders…these are a bit harder to style for winter unless of course you live in those states that its cold when it hits 65 degrees….lookin’ at you Florida! You can try wearing a snug long sleeve top under the Azalea for warmth (Do I really have to keep saying leggings and booties? Like, I feel it’s a given at this point). If you can find a long sleeved lace undershirt, I have found it to look HELLA good under a cold shoulder style, like the Azalea or Plumeria. Gives a little extra Holiday pizazz too 😉 Yeah, you can find that type of piece in a lingerie section, or like this one on Amazon. (I can picture this with many PR pieces, as well as even layered on top!) Hollywood Star Fashion Women’s Long Sleeve Lace Mock Neck Crop Top (Small, Black)
Paisley Raye Kerria Skirt- This skirt is light weight and flirty, but looks really, really cute with a big chunky sweater, leggings/tights and booties. You don’t have to stretch the imagination very far here… like… for real.
Bottom line, if you love it, there is a way to wear it all year long. Take an hour to play dress up in your closet. Grab a glass of wine and maybe a girlfriend for conversation, and just experiment!
